Go with the flow, or stealing the show?

Often, the finest ideologies are contradictory and a person who tries to follow two or more simultaneously will find personal conflict. How can one ‘seize the day’ when they are ‘going with the flow’?

Some people hand out ‘Carpe diem’ advice like a nightclub flyer. If we were all running around seizing the day, good times would be had, that much is for certain, but nothing of any value would get done, no progress would be made.

I have many times been torn by two that I hold dear. Whether to get on with life and forget or to be true to ones feelings and expire them in due course.

Which is the right ethos?

Life’s predicaments rarely come down to a simple one line phrase. Each instance should be scrutinised and the desired outcome has to dictate the course of action. If in any situation you find that you are loyal to your ideology…it’s probably the right choice.

If, in a moment of clarity, you can identify what system you want to use, pursue it, or like an inspirational alka seltzer, it will slowly dissolve to nothing. Only you can enforce your new found ideology. If it’s good for you, hold it dear, and make sure everything you do adheres to it’s principals.
I have a phrase…an ideology. It can be applied by many different people to many different things, to remain true to it’s essence is not easy, but realistic.

It is not filling a day with activities and calling that worthwhile or a license to be lazy. It sits amongst my most dear principals and it requires you to understand yourself first. It requires you to simply…

Get busy living, or get busy dying.
